Movie Review: Xmen Apocalypse
6:42:00 AMI am not really a comic book fanatic that literally knows every character on the movie but I've watched the past Xmen Movies like the Xmen First Class, The Wolverine and the Xmen Days of Future Past which I really enjoyed so much. So when I learned about the block screening from sir Next of Light Network, I was so excited to join and be part of it and I am very thankful for the opportunity.
The block screening organized by Pmcm Events Management, When In Manila and Resorts World Manila was held last Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Resorts World Manila Cinema 3. It was sponsored by Hygienix, Lotus Biscoff, Gluta C, You C1000, Kettle Korn, Yellow Cab, Yoshinoya and Aqua Best with Light Network as one of the Media Partners.
Before the movie started, raffle prizes from the sponsors were given away, but I guess I wasn't lucky that night. :p
Now, onto the movie..
Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), the first and most powerful mutant who was worshipped as a God thousands of years ago, uses transference to get the power of other mutants. But during one transference, the plan of some people who wanted the evil works to stop partly succeeded as they were able to trap Apocalypse underground for quite a long time. Unfortunately during the 80's he was awakened and seeing the huge changes that has happened in the world, he wanted to cleanse mankind and start a new world where he can be a God again.
In the process, he looked for other mutants that will help him in his mission and that includes Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Angel (Ben Hardy) and even Magneto (Michael Fassbender) who was actually doing great in blending in with normal people, together with his wife and daughter, but when a certain incident happened, his heart was again crushed and decided to be a villain once more.
To fight against evil, Professor X (James McAvoy), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Havok (Lucas Till) and Quicksilver (Evan Peters) together with newbies Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Jean Gray (Sophie Turner) and Night Crawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) united with a bit of help from Moira Mactaggert (Rose Byrne) to save the world from Apocalypse and his team's destruction. Of course, don't forget to keep an eye on Mr. Stan Lee and a peek at Wolverine.
Director Bryan Singer, in my opinion as a non-comic reader, did an amazing job in this Marvel movie which was action-packed from start to finish. Although I didn't like how the story jumped from one person to the other in a not so smooth transition making it a bit confusing especially if this is your first time to watch an Xmen Movie. But this will certainly be loved by a lot of thrill-seeking movie goers and fan of watching heroes with different awesome super powers.
Will definitely watch this again with my hubby who is more knowledgeable with the characters and story based on the comics. It's really great to watch if you have a person to ask about the name of the hero, etc. Again I would like to thank sir Next of Light Network for providing my ticket for the block screening. Plus, check out what I got after the movie! Awesome experience, right? :)
