Baguio City 2012 (Day 1)

8:42:00 PM

From QC, my boyfriend and I rode a Victory Liner Bus (Cubao Terminal) at around 10:15am via SCTEX. We were on a Deluxe Aircon Bus (P715.00 each) that comes with a portable restroom and free wifi. Unfortunately, the connection was a bit unstable due to number of users on board. The trip was 6 hours long which was earlier than expected (estimated travel time from Manila - Baguio is 7-8 hours). We took a cab and went straight to our hotel to check-in. We stayed at Starwood Hotel located at Kisad Road cor Marcos Highway along the BGH Rotunda. We got a Deluxe Room (P1,400/night) + P300.00 fee if you use their AC. Here's a picture from Starwood's website.

For rates and other details, you can check their website at www.starwoodhotelbaguio.com

After unpacking our stuff, we went straight to Mines View Park. We checked the shops there and bought some snacks. It was getting dark and due to unpreparedness, we forgot to bring a camera (oh noooo not the camera!!!). We won’t be able to take photos of the views using our camera phones without flash so we decided to head to SM Baguio to purchase a camera, luckily it was on sale. yey ^^

Say cheese!

After checking out the mall, taking pictures and watching a movie (and crying, thanks to the movie One More Try starring: Angel Locsin, Angelica Panganiban and Dingdong Dantes. lol) we felt hungry. We started looking for a place to eat at Session Road and ended up at Steak and Toppings Resto Cafe which was an easy choice for us since we love steaks. Great food and reasonably priced.

Before heading back to the hotel, we bought a slice of the famous Strawberry Shortcake at Vizco’s Restaurant and Cake Shop. Special thanks to google for suggesting this dessert.lol I loved it! This cake really is a must try :)

Sorry for all the photo grabbing, I was so busy enjoying this lovely cake and totally forgot to even take a picture of it. lol. After having dinner and desserts, we went back to the hotel. No need to turn on the AC as the Baguio climate lull as to sleep. Need this great sleep for tomorrow’s adventure. ^^

    1. So true! Our trip going back to Manila that time was more than 8 hours :( But I would love to try a newly opened expressway that was opened early this year that cut the travel time of 8 hours to I think, 4-5 hours :)

  2. Am I having a de javu right now? I think I have read this post before and have commented. But anyway! I haven't been to Baguio and though my Mom and I really want to, we're both (well, including my Dad) afraid to travel due to the different accidents that happen to and from that place.

Camera is the one thing we should never forget during trips. Luckily for you, there was a sale. And luckily now, we have smartphones that has good quality cameras we can use in case we forgot the other.

    1. Hi Louise, you're right. You've read and commented on this before. I just have to make each post again (from wordpress to blogger) because I've been hacked several times on wordpress. Unfortunately, I am unable to transfer my comments from disqus to blogger. I'm totally back to zero so I need to join comment exchanges all over again :(

  10. I love Baguio too, if only it was not too hard to drive there. Although compared to 2012, the new highway connecting SCTEX to Rosario, La Union is now nearing completion so the time of driving will be significantly cut shorter. I love staying in hotel beside Mines View Park, my favorite view of Baguio.

  12. I love steaks and toppings though I prefer their chicken barbeque. You should try the sans rival of Sizzling Plate, which is a sister restaurant of Steaks and Toppings. It melts in your mouth and you get to taste the soft crust and the butter flavor.
