Ely Buendia and Jay Ortega is back with their newest band Apartel
6:25:00 AMI can still recall how I love listening to Ely Buendia and his group Eraserheads' songs back in highschool. The mixture of Pop, Rock and Alternative songs in their album Eraserheads Anthology One and Two made any stressful day at school turn okay once I get back home play their CD. Truly, they've created music that has been a part of everyone's lives, including mine, despite being disbanded last 2003. But being separated with all the other great musicians of Eraserheads, Ely Buendia still continued to create awesome OPM hits with Pupil. Little did we know that he is up to something even bigger that caught me by surprise. Last September 17, 2016, I was very lucky to be part of the album launch of Ely Buendia's newest group, Apartel, at Victoria Court Malate.
The Ely Buendia, alongside The Jay Ortega (Gnash/DRT front man and songwriter), founded Apartel which is a 6 piece band composed of Coco Coo (Guitarist), RJ Pineda (Pianist/Keys Player), Pat Sarabia (Drummer/Percussionist) and Redge Concepcion (Guitarist), Jay Ortega (Singer/Songwriter) and Ely Buendia (Singer/Songwriter/Bass Player). This time, the founders who are both known as rock band front men, decided to choose a different genre that they've been wanting to try for so long. Apartel concentrated on sensual, groovy and sexy Soul music that is made even better by getting a full horn section, percussionists and back-up singers to complete the look during live performances.
During the event, they also launched the music video of their first single, "Is It Hip", directed by Marie Jamora:
Prior to launching the video, Farewell Fair Weather and Mean Jay entertained the crowd at Victoria Court Malate with their original and cover songs that wowed everyone.
Then came the most awaited part of the program as the band went up on stage and made the audience dance to the beat of their songs. Their music was catchy, groovy and fun to listen to especially when you watch them perform it live, together with all the other musicians that completed the soulful jazzy vibe on stage.
Apartel is indeed a band to watch out for! Their album "Inner Play" can be purchased in Itunes and they will release vinyl records as well. To know more about Apartel PH and their gig schedules, visit their Facebook Page.
I had an awesome time and I would like to thank Ms. Erika of Victoria Court and Ms. Grace and Sir Jared of Tag Media for the invite. Check out my short video of what happened at the event:
