Hijo D' Pita

Me and my family were on our way home from an event in Ortigas via c5 when we suddenly felt a bit hungry. Since we were already near UP Diliman, I wanted to check out a place at Malingap St. called The Z Compound which was recommended by my office mates.

It was a bit crowded when we arrived and I felt a bit stressed going around while carrying my baby, so we decided to leave the place. But what I saw just beside the gate made me stay a little longer.

Though the place may not be too appealing to the crowd, I've heard great reviews with regards to the snacks served at Hijo D' Pita. I was able to watch an episode of Pop Talk where they were featured and I've been wanting to try their El Chuppacabbra because food critiques from Pop Talk loved it.

Here's the menu:

Here's what I ordered:

El Chuppacabbra Pita - P119.00
I ordered an El Chuppacabbra cut into bits and placed inside a well made pita filled with a mix of exotic blends of Mexican herbs and spices.

I'm not a fan of veggies but I was able to eat the cucumber slices (not sure if it's really cucumber) because of the delicious garlic sauce that I literally poured all over my pita. The meat was tender and flavorful, and it tasted even better with the sauce.

I enjoyed eating this but I prefer to pair the El Chuppacabbra with rice on my next visit minus the cucumber. And I do hope that they improve their place so that it would look appealing to hungry customers like us. :)

  3. The cucumber adds a different crunch factor to the meat. I hope the veggies were served fresh. Prices seem reasonable for the portion of the food.

  4. I've never had anything like this. It reminds me of a Gyro and usually whenever I buy something like a Gyro I automatically want meat. :)

  6. I love Mexican food and I tend to be very picky about it. It's so hard to find great Mexican food here in the Philippines. I don't know how I feel about using pita though?

  7. I love Mexican Food, this makes me think of Chipotle back in California, our go to place when we're too tired to whip up something ourselves in the kitchen. Maginhawa St. sure has a lot of great places to eat.

  16. That looks like a healthy choice, loads of cucumber goodness in a pita. Thanks for sharing this review. OpenSnap App is a good app to use to look for places to dine in at.

  18. There are really food stores that are has the potential but aren't given that much attention because of their store design or their location. This is the kind of business that needs help.

  19. This Pita is like shawarma in Arabic but really the cheese involve inside? I like to make my own sandwich and really great with more toppings.

  20. The place looks quite deserted. Probably not a place I would pop into if it weren't for opensnap or similar recommendations.
