7 Flavors

5:03:00 PM

Sweet, Sour, Salty, Bitter, Umami, Spicy and Astringent, these are the tastes that this World Fusion Buffet/Cafe/Bakery has in store for everyone. Located at 196 A. Mabini Street, Baranggay Addition Hills, San Juan, Manila, 7 Flavors is an emerging food spot co-owned by one of the best Filipino chefs I know, Master Boy Logro.

I must admit that I am not familiar with the streets of San Juan, but with the help of prayer and friends, I manage to arrive at the restaurant just in time.

Facade and ample amount of parking spaces
With such an inviting facade, it made me more excited to have a taste of their take on Filipino and International cuisine. What’s great about 7 Flavors is that it’s not only a Buffet Restaurant, but it also has a Bakery and a Cafe.

Bakery
The Bakery can be easily accessed outside where in everything you buy (dine in or take out) is freshly baked. One of their best sellers is the 7 Flavors Ensaymada:

7 Flavors Ensaymada – P50.00
This is their version of an all-time favorite pasalubong, Ensaymada, which has a distinct flavor of vanilla butter cream, cheese, pandan, coconut, ube, flan and bacon. I find it odd that they placed bacon bits on top of the ensaymada, but after I took a bite on this colorful thing, the saltiness of the bacon bits worked really well with everything else. I was just a little concerned on how “gummy” this pastry was, but all in all, I find it quite interesting on how it tasted with all those flavors combined together. Indeed, this one’s a must try which you can get for only P50.00!! Here’s a menu on what their bakery has in store for everyone:

Very affordable!! :)
If you are craving for milkshakes, pasta, cakes, coffee or sandwiches, the 7 Flavors’ Gourmet Cafe is such a great place for you to dine in. You can eat outside, which is not advisable due to the super-hot weather this summer season;

or you can relax and enjoy your food inside the cafe.
Prior to entering the restaurant, a photo wall of Chef Boy Logro is displayed outside:

Comfy Black Sofa
Classy Dining Area
The wall inside the cafe is transformed into a menu board:

A cafe wouldn’t be complete without the creamy coffee and yummy cakes:

Sweetness Overload :)
Here’s the menu for the Gourmet Cafe:

Here are some of what we ordered from the cafe:

7 Flavors Cheesecake – P120.00
Another one of a kind creation only found in 7 Flavors, this calamansi-infused cheesecake, on a coconut and graham crust, topped with an ube and langka mixture, and fresh durian, frosted with coffee cream and dusted with Chocnut crumble will surely be an explosion of flavors in your mouth. A taste of this would literally make you search for all those ingredients one by one. It was a fun and an extraordinary experience trying this dessert.

Now, who wants some drinks?

Smores Milkshake – P140.00
This is what I ordered. I love how its sweetness is just right. Plus, it was topped with tiny marshmallows. Will definitely order this again the next time I visit 7 Flavors.

Inferno Milkshake – P80.00
Ms. Mars of Your Happy Camper ordered this and shared to us that the Tapioca Pearls were a little hot (maanghang). Another must try for adventurous foodies.

Black and White Mocha – P160.00
Here’s what Ms. Marge of Beyond Gallivanting ordered, the Black and White Mocha that looks and smells really good.

From top (clockwise) Mango-Banana Smoothie – P110.00, Bubblegum Dreams – P120.00, Butterbeer Milkshake – P155.00, Elvis Shake – P180.00 and Smores Milkshake – P140.00
We also tried their Italian Sodas which are available in 4 delicious flavors:

Strawberry, Blueberry, Passion Fruit and Kiwi – P80.00/each
I picked the Strawberry Italian Soda and it looks and tastes like a Kurant minus the vodka.
Next stop, the main event! Their Buffet is located at the second floor.

Sir Carlo, one of the co-owners of 7 flavors, explained to us that since they are still on soft opening, accessories such as railings are not yet installed. But he made sure that they are already working on it since it would be a bit unsafe to use the stairs with the absence of the railings.

Buffet Dining Area
The dining area was quite spacious and they also have private dining areas where you can enjoy your food more intimately with your family and friends.

Buffet Table
Check out the food choices served during lunch time:

Salad Station
Chef’s Salad
Fruits
Soup of the Day – Corn Soup

Bagoong Rice
They also have Plain Rice if that’s what you prefer.

Garlic Green Beans
Pork Bagnet with Fermented Shrimp
I love the Bagnet, but I find this dish too salty.

Buttered Chicken
Love the taste of this creamy dish plus it was not too salty.

Pumpkin Fritata
Fried Potato with Cheese and Bacon
Chicken Drumstick Sticky Lemon Sauce
Another chicken on the menu, I enjoyed this more than the buttered chicken.

Buttered Vegetables
Malaysian Beef Randang
This is my first time to try a Malaysian Beef Randang and I love how tender the meat was. It was also full of flavor and it was such a colorful dish with all the green and orange veggies on top.

Norwegian Meat Balls
I WANT MORE. I really need to know how this was prepared because I find this very delicious. It’s just like pringles, once you pop, you can’t stop. Haha

Korean Style Mafu Tofu
Beef Bourguignon
Another great dish, what can I say, I just love beef!

Fried Fish with Tropical Fruits Salsa
I love the taste of the fish, but the breading was a bit soggy maybe because of the salsa.

Eggplant Parmigiana
Asian BBQ Pork Ribs
Chicken Wings Butter Spicy Sauce
Quesadilla and Lettuce Wraps Station
After a sumptuous meal, a dessert is a must!

Dessert Station
Strawberry Cup Chef
German Chocolate Bar
Mango Bar

I find the desserts a bit dry, except for the cake with a mint leaf on top. I love that the icing has the right sweetness and its cake is moist. Hopefully they get to create better desserts soon since this is just a soft opening.

Lime and Tea Shots and Apple Caramel Crumble Shots
I was able to taste the Apple Caramel Crumble Shot and it was too sweet for my liking maybe because of too much caramel syrup resting at the bottom of the shot glass.
What’s a better way to end a tummy-filling event but with a group photo:

For those who would like to try great tasting dishes that would definitely make you want to come back for more, I recommend 7 Flavors Restaurant. They are currently on a soft opening promo (20% discount) until June 14, 2015, so reserve a table now to enjoy everything you order at a lower price. I can’t wait to bring my family here so that they would also be able to have a one of a kind gastronomical experience just like me. I would like to thank you Ms. Kathy Kenny Ngo of Life Is Kulayful for the invite and to 7 Flavors’ staff and management for a wonderful dining experience.

  4. I thought I knew San Juan but I am not familiar with A. Mabini St. I will have to googlemap that since this resto looks very tempting. I wonder what Astringent tastes like?

  6. It's such a shame when everything is good but then the dessert ends up being dry. Don't you just hate that? And what, astringent flavor? That sounds quirky!

  9. I love how this buffet has a private space for families. Its also cute at how they have a separate space for their bakery. Anyway, I'm glad you mentioned that they are still on soft opening because I almost asked why the interiors kind of looked unfinished. :)
