Barrio Fiesta

3:39:00 PM

A day before Jayvee’s birthday, we wanted to have a simple pre-dinner celebration, and since he’s already at Makati, specifically at Gil Puyat Ave (their head office), we decided to eat somewhere near that area.

It has been a long time since we had our favorite combo: Kare Kare and Crispy Pata. If I remember it correctly, we had this combo at Archipelago 7107 at Il Terazzo, Tomas Morato. We wanted to taste these great dishes once again, so we had Barrio Fiesta as our destination that night.

Barrio Fiesta is located at Makati Ave and it’s just a 10 minute walk from Jayvee’s head office. Upon entering the restaurant, you immediately feel the native vibe from the tables, chairs, banana leaves used as wall decors, and these two life size statues that welcomes you inside the restaurant.

Once seated, we ordered our combo: Kare Kare and Crispy Pata right away. We also ordered rice since it’s not included on these dishes. While waiting for our orders to be served, I played slots on my phone (I’m missing Solaire, lol).

After 25-30 minutes, our KareKare, Crispy Pata and Rice were served.

Crispy Pata – P581.00
Their Crispy Pata was not too oily or too salty. The skin was crispy and truly mouthwatering. There’s just some parts that I hate to eat specifically those tough parts that were too hard to chew.

Kare-Kare – P347.00
The Kare-Kare’s savory peanut sauce has a thick consistency and I love the ox tail and beef tripe submerged in it. I just don’t like the vegetables so I remove them one by one and place them on a plate so that Jayvee can get what he likes.

Plain Rice (Fiesta) – P102.00
The rice serving is good for 2-3 persons. We weren’t able to finish the crispy pata since there was too much for the two of us and it got tough when it began to get cold. So once we finished the Kare-Kare, we asked the server to place the pata on a takeout bag and then she handed us the bill.

We had a great time at Barrio Fiesta and we’ll definitely go back here for more affordable and appetizing Filipino dishes.
